About UsTina Reed has 20 years experience as an artist, covering various disciplines. She started out in the fashion business, with a degree from Leeds University, England in textile-design. Having worked for several years as a free-lance print designer, Tina travelled to the US & spent 5 years in the San Francisco area, painting murals, & so called ‘faux’ marble & wood effects. Tina then spent 5 years in London’s West End, back in the rag-trade, before coming over to Killarney in 2000. She carried out commissioned pieces both privately and for some of the larger hotels & guesthouses, whilst running art & craft, and oil-painting classes locally. Oil painting has now become the focus of Tina’s working life. She paints local landscapes using oils in an ‘impasto’ style, building up layers of paint creating a texture and giving an almost 3 dimensional feel, using the palette knife. The colours Tina uses are bright and vibrant, and add to a style that is full of energy and vigour, capturing the beauty of the wild and dramatic landscapes of The Kingdom of Kerry. Tina’s work can be viewed at several galleries throughout Ireland, and various exhibitions during the year including an annual event at The Malton Hotel Killarney, whilst running successful painting courses from her studio. She draws inspiration from the beautiful Killarney National Park which surrounds her Ross Road home and studio. Tina sells her paintings in local galleries in Killarney and Dublin, and there are many to be viewed on this website.
